Apparent Citibank hoax MacFixIt reader J. Don Book alerts us to an apparent hoax intent on collecting Citibank members' account information. The hoax comes in the form of an e-mail reading:

"Dear Citibank Member: This email was sent by the Citibank server to verify your E-mail address. You must complete this process by clicking on the link below and entering in the small window your Citibank ATM/Debit Card number and PIN that you use on ATM.

"This is done for your protection - because some of our members no longer have access to their email addresses and we must verify it. To verify your E-mail address and access your bank account, click on the link below..."

Amplitube plug-in can crash Digital Performer MacFixIt reader Richard describes a problem with the "Amplitube" plug-in for Digital Performer, for which we are seeking confirmation "I?ve been having continuous problems with IK Multimedia?s Amplitube AU plug-in working with Digital Performer 4.12 and a dual 2Ghz G5, 1.5 gigs Ram. Two main problems are:

"A regularly occurring, low volume, 'Demo Mode' style buzz, even after proper authorization. And constant crashing of DP when working with the Amplitube AU plug-in. Double clicking the plug-in on a channel insert, trying to move it from one channel to another, etc will cause an instant crash around 60-75% of the time, with Amplitube occupying the top 5-10 spots in the crash log. Another of their products that I use, T-Racks AU plug-in, works with occasional problems. This could be an issue with DP?s implementation it?s AU requirements. If I remove the IK?s AU plug-ins, DP doesn?t crash.

"I was having a third problem with Amplitube- kernel panics when quitting DP. I was instructed to switch my G5?s energy setting from Automatic to Highest, and that has stopped the KP?s. I originally had the proper setting, but after an OS update, it resorted to the default ?Automatic? setting without my knowledge. I have manually uninstalled, re-downloaded and installed the latest Amplitube AU plug-in from IK?s website. I also have rebuilt permissions several times, but it still crashes."
