New York Times Digital named Leonard Apcar, a longtime member of the print edition's editorial staff, as editor in chief, the company said Friday. Apcar will replace Bernard Gwertzman, who is retiring after seven years as editor of NYTimes.com and more than 27 years at the print paper.
Apcar, who will report to New York Times Digital CEO Martin Nisenholtz in his role starting June 10, has been The New York Times' assistant editor of foreign news for the past four years and has worked with the paper since 1991.
