Novell names Raney CFO

Novell names Dennis Raney, who had been in the post on an interim basis, senior vice president and chief financial officer.

Novell said today that it named Dennis Raney senior vice president and chief financial officer.

Raney, who had been in the post on an interim basis, has held chief financial officer positions at General Magic, California Microwave, and most recently, QAD.

"Dennis Raney brings the knowledge and experience to apply strong financial controls and systems necessary in a well-managed, growing, billion dollar global business," Novell's CEO Eric Schmidt said in a statement.

Raney first joined Novell as interim chief financial officer in March 1998 after James Tolonen resigned.

The announcement comes just one day after the company broke ground on a new, 388,000-square-foot office building that will accommodate about 1,000 employees when it is completed in January of 2000.
