Novell extends software line for Net

As part of its ongoing push to establish itself as a presence in the Internet market, Novell today extended its line of NetWare-based software for corporate intranets and the Internet.

Novell unveiled an intranet publishing suite called InnerWeb Publisher that includes a NetWare Web server and a suite of other Internet tools. The company says its Web server, which features Java support and three interfaces, is the fastest on the market. The Publisher also includes Netscape Navigator 2.01, SoftQuad's HoTMetal Light HTML authoring tool, Quarterdeck's IWare Lite for establishing Internet connections on NetWare clients, and NetWare 4.1 Runtime.

Novell's InnerWeb Publisher is scheduled to ship in June for $2,495, including a license for one server that supports an unlimited number of users. NetWare Web Server 2.5 can be purchased separately for $995.

The company also announced a new version of its TCP/IP applications suite that allows users to access, share, and retrieve data and applications across intranets or the Internet. Called LAN WorkPlace Pro, the new version runs in a 32-bit protected mode on Windows 95 and Windows NT.

LAN WorkPlace Pro will be available in July and retail for $249. Group licenses will be available for 10, 50, 100, and 250 users with prices starting at $40 per user.
