Normandy nets Digital

Digital lines up to help implement Microsoft's new Normandy Net server applications.

Microsoft (MSFT) revealed today that Digital Equipment (DEC) is the first company they've lined up to help customers implement the new Normandy Internet server applications.

Normandy is the code name for a family of scalable Internet server applications. Some of Normandy's features include mail, chat, news, information retrieval, a personalization server that can deliver customized content to individuals, and a content replication server that allows multiple users to publish on the same Web server.

Digital's Network and Systems Integration Services unit will help Microsoft customers integrate Normandy with legacy systems, as well as plan and upgrade new networks.

Normandy is scheduled to enter beta testing this fall and is expected to ship in late December or early January in pieces so that customers can buy the components they need.
