Nokia takes on new partner to launch mobile apps
The mobile phone maker will team up with Polar Mobile to kick off more than 300 mobile apps for its smartphones.
With the help of a new partner, Nokia is planning to launch more than 300 mobile apps for its smartphones over the next year.
Announced today, the team-up with Polar Mobile will see Nokia smartphone apps specificially from a variety of global media companies, including Advertising Age, Wired UK, Kompas, Globe and Mail, Shanghai Daily, and 7DAYS.
The apps will be available to current owners of Symbian smartphones, the new Nokia N9, and to upcoming Nokia devices running Microsoft's Windows Phone. The first 50 apps will debut next month for Symbian and be accessible through Nokia's Ovi Store.

Polar Mobile helps media outlets launch apps across a variety of smartphone and tablet operating systems. The company has kicked off more than 1,200 mobile apps and expects to help Nokia reach customers across 190 different markets.
"Nokia is excited about the opportunity to team up with Polar Mobile to bring hundreds of quality apps to consumers around the world," Richard White, general manager of Nokia Canada, said in a statement. "Polar Mobile's ability to scale and attract a global set of brands is strategic in supporting Nokia's efforts in offering compelling apps and experiences for our users."
