Nokia makes a lot of phones, and it's not surprising for end-users to be confused when choosing the right device. Tuesday, on its Conversations blog, the Finnish outfit clarified the naming convention once and for all.

There are four series of devices in total and the numeric digits accompanying each handset represent the range of features and price level on a scale of 1 to 9, 1 being the lowest and 9 the highest.

The N series will remain the company's flagship lineup with the most advanced features, while the X series prides itself on social entertainment. The E series will comprise productivity and business models, while the C series will be the core mainstream devices.
