Nokia E63: Plastic fantastic

Spy shots have emerged of the Nokia E63, a plastic edition of our favourite business smartphone of late, the Nokia E71.

We make no apologies for loving the Nokia E71, a business phone that walks the fine line between design, productivity, usability and performance and comes out shining on most fronts.

If the spy shots seen on the Boy Genius Report are anything to go by, it seems Nokia intends to follow up our favourite business phone with, well, the same phone in plastic, albeit coloured plastic. Worse yet, the E63 is reportedly thicker than the svelte E71.

Under the hood, the E63 may include the same hardware specs as the former, with HSDPA, Wi-Fi, GPS, microSD expansion and a QVGA display in widescreen format. In fact, the only addition we can see to this list is the inclusion of a 3.5mm headphone jack — the E71 sports a 2.5mm connection and requires an adapter to use standard headphones.

While the difference between the E63 and E71 seems minimal, we welcome this new handset with opened arms if the price is right. After all, you can never have too much of a good thing.
