No warp speed release for Star Trek: Bridge Crew

Ubisoft announced yesterday that you'll now have to wait until 2017 to go where no VR has gone before.

Unfortunately, you'll have to wait a few more months to get your hands on this helm.

Star Trek: Bridge Crew will remain on impulse power for now. Ubisoft announced on its blog yesterday that it has delayed the release of the virtual reality game, originally set for this autumn, until March 14, 2017.

The company didn't cite a specific reason for the delay, only saying that it wanted "to deliver the best game experience possible at launch".

Announced four months ago at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), Bridge Crew puts you on the bridge of a virtual Federation starship playing one of four roles: helm, weapons, engineering or captain. You'll be able to play it on the Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and PlayStation VR headsets.

CNET editor Sean Hollister played the game while at E3 last June and "loved every minute of it."
