in the calendar of any "Star Wars" fan, but 2015 is set to be a big one. Following the first teaser for the forthcoming "Star Wars: The Force Awakens", another trailer is set to make the jump to lightspeed in May and play before screenings of "Avengers: Age of Ultron".
"Star Wars" and "Avengers" have in the past few years come under the same pair of mouse ears as Disney has snapped up Lucasfilm and Marvel. A trailer for "The Force Awakens" linked to "Age of Ultron" would make sweet, sweet synergy, and Slashfilm reports that will indeed be the case.
"Avengers: Age of Ultron" is the second in the Joss Whedon-helmed movie series uniting Marvel comic book superheroes Captain America, Black Widow, Iron Man, Hawkeye, Thor, Nick Fury and the Incredible Hulk.
New faces include Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Quicksilver, Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch and James Spader as the villainous Ultron. The film hits UK cinemas on 24 April and US movie theatres on 1 May...just a few days shy of the day celebrated by "Star Wars" fans for sounding like the intergalactic greeting, "May the Force be with you."
"Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens" is the first "Star Wars" film for a decade, following the original trilogy that began in 1977 and the prequel trilogy that followed in 1999. Director JJ Abrams takes over from series creator George Lucas, but familiar faces that will return include Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher reprising their roles from the first three films. "The Force Awakens" hits theatres in December 2015.
Whether there will be another teaser for "Awakens" in the meantime remains to be seen.
If the trailer for "Awakens" does play before "Ultron", fans of one actor in particular can look forward to a double dose of their favourite thesp: as if acclaimed roles in the "Lord of the Rings" and "Planet of the Apes" series aren't enough, British actor and motion-capture pioneer Andy Serkis appears in both movies.
