Few things upset Nikon digital SLR fans more than a bunch of Coolpix announcements. That's understandable, but at least with this batch we get some of Nikon's more unique offerings and just in time for the 2011 holiday shopping season.
Nikon announced six new models today, five of which are refreshes of older models. At the top is the new Coolpix P7100, which finally gets an articulated LCD, but not much else. Then there's Nikon's latest projector cam, the S1200pj, that can now use its built-in pico projector to display content directly from your iPad or iPhone. We also get refreshes of the 10x S8100 (now 14x!), the 7x S6100 (now 10x!), and the S80 (same touch screen, more megapixels!).
The one all-new camera is the Coolpix AW100, a rugged compact--waterproof, shockproof, and freezeproof--with a 16-megapixel backside-illuminated CMOS sensor, a 5x, 28mm wide-angle lens, and a 3-inch LCD.
Links to all the coverage are below. Here's hoping I can get "The Man with the Magic Touch" out of my head sometime today.
