Nexus 5 SIM-free sold out at Carphone too, still on contract

Stocks of Google's new KitKat-packing 4G superphone are running low all over the place, with Carphone Warehouse the latest outlet to limit Nexus 5 stock to contract-only customers.
The Carphone site will still sell you a black Nexus 5 (only with 16GB of storage), but not SIM-free, only on a contract, with a free handset setting you back £25 per month.
The site briefly showed SIM-free models available for £429, a shocking £130 more than Google is selling the phone, but a Carphone spokesperson told me that was not the official offer. They added that individual stores may still have SIM-free stock, at Google's RRP, so you should ring your local Warehouse to find out if they have any.
Google Play yesterday ran out of 32GB black Nexus 5s, while the 16GB black version is available to order with a 2-3 week wait. The rather naff white versions are readily available, at £299 for 16GB and £339 for 32GB.
Neither Carphone nor Google could say when they would have more stock.
If you simply can't live without a 32GB Nexus, O2 exclusively sells it on pay as you go for the staggeringly inflated price of £529. Patience is a virtue, remember.
