Nextlink Invisio G5: A seriously small Bluetooth headset

If you need a Bluetooth headset that's incredibly compact and lasts for hours, Nextlink's Invisio G5 will make your ears very happy indeed

We get drawerfuls of Bluetooth headsets in that claim to be the smallest in the world, and of course most of them aren't. Whether or not it's the smallest isn't really important -- it's how comfortable a headset is in your ear that makes a big difference.

Nextlink claims it's made the smallest Bluetooth headset ever in the form of the Invisio G5, and while we can't definitely confirm that it is, it certainly looks incredibly wee, and it weighs a minuscule 7g. But is it comfortable to wear?

The Invisio uses an interesting earbud that sticks and lodges itself in your ear. The system, called Soft Sprung, works quite well and we did find the G5 a comfortable device, which is the most important part of all.

The G5's talk time stands at around four hours and standby time goes up to 150 hours, but Nextink has come up with a rather clever idea to extend battery life.

Above is a picture of the G5's carrying case -- this humble-looking box also doubles up as a charger and every time you pop the headset in, it recharges it, giving you an overall battery life of up to 20 hours talk time and 30 days standby time.

Audio quality during calls is okay, but we did notice some muffling, albeit relatively little. Accepting calls is done by pressing a button on the side, which works fine, but we think this would be even better if it had a touch-sensitive system similar to the Bluetrek Sense.

You can buy the Invisio G5 from Carphone Warehouse for about £80. -Andrew Lim
