Foxtel's mobile service is moving onto the iPhone as well as the iPad, and adding three sport channels to its line-up.
Fox Sports 1, 2 and 3 are now available via the. They join Fuel TV and Speed as the sport offerings on the mobile service.
The channels will offer live coverage of the Ashes and the Lions rugby tour, along with live matches from Super Rugby and the NRL Telstra championship. The Sports Play channel, which offered a selection of content from the channels, will now be removed from the app.
Additionally, the Foxtel Go app has now extended its reach to include iPhone and iPod devices. The app is only supported on the iPhone 4 and above, running iOS 5 or higher.
Foxtel took the opportunity of the launch to assure users that it intends to bring the Foxtel Go experience to even more hardware devices, including Mac and Android. In a media statement, Jim Rudder, Foxtel's executive director of product, said:
More content and more devices has always been the next step in Foxtel's evolution, and the Foxtel Go App rounds out Foxtel's IPTV offer. In the future, customers can expect to see Foxtel Go on more compatible devices, including Mac, PC and Android, and very shortly we will add more live channels, including movie channels and popular documentary and entertainment channel brands.
To get access to the new sport channels on Foxtel Go, users must be subscribers to the sport package as part of their Foxtel membership.
