Kent was a senior managing editor at CNET News. A veteran of CNET since 2003, he reviewed the first iPhone and worked in both the London and San Francisco offices. When not working, he's planning his next vacation, walking his dog or watching planes land at the airport (yes, really).

LG has upgraded two existing Cingular handsets with the release of the LG L1400i and the LG C1300i. Both phones will retain all of the features and the basic design of the previous models (the and the LG C1300, respectively) with some improvements. The L1400i adds Yahoo instant messaging and an upgraded menu design. The LG C1300i increases the number of GSM bands to three (850/1800/1900), and it throws in a redesigned keypad, Yahoo Instant Messenger, and an upgraded menu. I'd rather the C1300i ditch the weird mirror in favor of an external display, but that's not the case. The phones are now available from Cingular.

Cingular also added the triband (GSM 850/1800/1900) LG C2000 to its lineup. The compact flip phone has a VGA camera; a color external display with caller ID; a speakerphone; Yahoo, AOL, and ICG instant messaging; polyphonic ring tones; a WAP 2.0 wireless Web browser; and Java (J2ME) support for games and applications.
