AvantGo, which specializes in helping companies make their corporate data available via handheld computers, introduced Monday a program geared toward sales representatives of pharmaceutical companies. AvantGo Mobile Pharma is designed to run on a variety of handhelds including those running the Palm operating system and Microsoft's Pocket PC operating system. It's built to run on Research In Motion's BlackBerry devices as well.
"Pharmaceutical companies are striving to improve the quality of their interactions with physicians, while at the same time improving their bottom line," AvantGo CEO Richard Owen said in a statement. Originally focused on technology that enables consumers to bring Web pages to their handhelds, AvantGo began offering services to individual businesses and now increasingly serves up software--like Mobile Pharma--designed to appeal to an entire industry.
