NetflixJessica Jones, Luke Cage, Daredevil and Iron Fist will end up facing a familiar face in Netflix's upcoming Marvel miniseries, "The Defenders."
In a creepy, short video tweeted by the official "Defenders" account on Tuesday, the trailer gives a big hint that Daredevil's troubled love interest Elektra (played by French actress Elodie Yung) is returning in the new series, but it's still a mystery whose side she'll be on.
After all, when superheroes are resurrected from the dead, it usually means something evil helped. In this case, Elektra died at the end of "Daredevil" season 2, only to be placed inside a tomb by the Hand -- a ninja order that serves a demon.
The new video shows blood being poured into the tomb where Elektra's body is being kept and then the tomb lid opening.
The caption to the tweet "Oh, great. #DEFEND" might mean that Elektra will be one of the many obstacles (instead of ally) that Jones, Cage, Iron Fist and poor Daredevil will have to face in "The Defenders."
But as Elektra was a borderline hero before, perhaps things won't be so black and white in the upcoming Netflix series either.
Even in the new full-length trailer for "The Defenders" which debuted May 3, we see Elektra not only inside her tomb but also fighting with her usual expert precision.
Fans will have to wait and see which side Elektra fights for on August 18 when "The Defenders" premieres on Netflix.
