New BEA site for portal developers
BEA Systems announced Monday a new developer Web site designed to help companies build portal sites for their employees, customers and business partners. The BEA Portal Solution Center offers free versions of BEA's software, guides for building portals, and more than 100 different portlets--small bits of information, such as news or sales forecasts, that are combined on a portal site to deliver a single view of corporate data. BEA recently released WebLogic Portal 7.0, the company's updated portal server software. The new version includes wizards that make it easier for programmers to build portals and portlets by guiding them through the development process. New tools will allow BEA's portal software to support Web services written in the Java language or with Microsoft's .Net technology.
