You Software launched The founder of Extensis and Now Software, Craig Barnes, has announced a new company, You Software, aimed at providing a number of "system enhancement utilities" for Mac OS X. The software and development teams include two other veterans of Now and Extensis, as well as Paul Haddad, former Apple employee and founder of PTH software (responsible for a number of popular OS X utilities). Belkin to disable router "ad redirection" Belkin has announced that they will be disabling a controversial behavior in their routers via an upcoming firmware update. In order to promote the "parental control" features in their routers, every eight hours random HTTP requests were redirected to a page on Belkin's website advertising those features. More.

Panther's cost is justified A Buffalo News review of Panther discusses the various costs of OS X upgrades over the past few years, but concludes that "Panther justifies making a dent in the credit-card balance." More.

Panther Text Rendering A Daring Fireball article discusses the improved text handling in Panther: "what I find even more impressive is even further under the hood: on-screen text rendering in Panther is significantly improved.
