Tog: The Mac is Back! Bruce Tognazzini, founder of Apple's Human Interface Group, has long been critical of Mac OS X's interface. However, Panther has changed his mind somewhat: "Apple is indeed back. OS X is a fully-usable powerhouse once more, with a free and open future." More.

Apple in new markets A ComputerWorld opinion column notes that Apple is "nibbling" at new markets: "What's stunning isn't that Apple Computer Inc.'s engineers can, say, design a server with two 2-GHz G5 processors, 1GB of memory, storage capacity of 80 to 750GB and loads of other goodies all in a slim 1U package (a mere 1.75-in. thick). No, what's stunning is that Apple's marketers will price the Xserve system at $3,999." More.

Merrill Lynch reinstates Apple coverage According to a Forbes article, Merrill Lynch is giving Apple a favorable rating: "We think Apple has gotten its act together in focusing on core markets, building a mature management team and, most important, innovating again." More.

Women put off by gadget-shopping treatment A BBC News story reports that "a new generation of tech-savvy women is emerging but they are still being treated like idiots when it comes to selling gadgets." More.
