New and Noteworthy: Steve Jobs a 'winner' of 2004; Retailers suing Apple switch lawyers
Steve Jobs a 'winner' of 2004 The Chicago-Sun Times has named Steve Jobs a "winner" of 2004, with the following justification: "His companies are responsible for one of the hottest gifts of the holiday season (iPod and its offspring), some of the best animated movies in recent years ('Nemo' and 'Incredibles'), and computers that are free of viruses (Mac). Jobs also was able to beat back pancreatic cancer this year. He even got in a post-op plug for Apple products in an e-mail to employees from his sickbed: 'PS: I'm sending this from my hospital bed using my 17-inch PowerBook and an Airport Express.' Rock on." More.
Retailers suing Apple switch lawyers MSNBC reports that new attorneys with a background in franchisee litigation have been hired to press a suit by Apple computer dealers who claim the Cupertino-based Apple Computer Inc. is trying to drive them out of business by opening its own chain of stores. "A fifth plaintiff has also joined the case awaiting trial in Santa Clara County Superior Court. The original plaintiffs are inviting more dealers to join them." More.
