Apple's push for QuickTime in 3G phones Singapore's Straits Times reports that Apple was in Singapore last week pushing for "third-generation" mobile phone manufacturers to use Apple's QuickTime technology as the media delivery software in their phones. Doing so would allow mobile phone users to access QuickTime content?such as movie trailers?directly from their phones, and to send video between phones, like instant messages. More.

"Big Mac" officially ranked 3rd-fastest supercomputer The New York Times reports that the Virginia Tech supercomputer made up of 1100 Power Mac G5 computers is now officially ranked #3 in the world in terms of number-crunching ability. More.
