One columnist's pain with Panther Wired News' Leander Kahney had a bad experience with Mac OS X 10.3 installation: "The failure to back up my iBook before a major overhaul like Panther is a nitwit mistake, one paid for by a weekend's worth of troubleshooting -- most of it blind blundering about -- trying to fix it. Luckily, Panther was eventually installed and the files saved. And, I'm delighted to say, so far it's been worth all the pain it caused." More.

PalmSource Spin-off and Handspring Acquisition Approved by Stockholders Palm and Handspring have announced that stockholders of both companies have approved a transaction that transforms the landscape for handheld computing and communications. The transactions are expected to close later today, and two new leadership companies are expected to emerge and begin trading tomorrow on the Nasdaq stock market. More.
