Netscape to License Client/Server Email

CNET News staff
Netscape Communications has announced plans to license email technology from Software.Com in order to bolster the enterprise functions within its Collabra groupware offering.

The deal will enable Netscape to meld the low-cost groupware capabilities of Collabra Share with client/server Unix-based email that works with different kinds of client PCs and workstations.

By marrying the two products, Netscape will be in a better position to compete against Novell's Groupwise and IBM's Notes. For more info on the ties that bind email to the Net, stay tuned to CNET Online for coverage of this week's Email/Internet World trade show in Boston.
