This is, however, not an issue with what Netgear announced today, the Powerline AV 200 Nano Adapter Kit (model XAVB2101). The company called it the "smallest 200Mbps power-line AV adapter currently available worldwide."
The kit includes two identical power-line adapters that are small enough to fit in your palm. When mounted on the wall socket, it's clear that the adapter won't be in the way if you want to use another socket nearby.
These adapters are based on the HomePlug AV standard and offer a ceiling speed of 200Mbps. Like all power-line adapters, they can be used to extend a wired network to the far corners of the house by turning the electrical wiring into data cable.
The two XAVB2101 adapters support a Push-Button security feature, which quickly creates a secure power-line connection between them. They also have a Pick-a-Plug feature that indicates the best power outlets to use them with for the fastest connection.
The Netgear Powerline AV 200 Nano Adapter Kit will be available during the first quarter of the year and is estimated to cost around $140.
