Netcom unveils NetCruiser for the Mac

Netcom On-Line is demonstrating its NetCruiser Internet software for the Macintosh this week at Macworld. NetCruiser will provide Internet access at 28.8 kbps and will be available in the first quarter of 1996.

    SAN FRANCISCO--Netcom On-Line is demonstrating its NetCruiser Internet software suite for the Macintosh this week at Macworld. NetCruiser is backed by Netcom's digital network, which provides Internet access at 28.8 kbps. The software will be available in the first quarter of 1996. Pricing will be announced when the product ships, according to officials.

    NetCruiser for the Mac will include support for GIF and JPEG image formats and drag-and-drop support. NetCruiser also includes access to the Web, email, Usenet newsgroups, Internet Relay Chat (IRC), Gopher, ftp, and Telnet.

    Internet access will be $19.95 per month for 40 hours of use, with unlimited use during nonpeak hours (midnight to 9 a.m.) and on weekends. Each additional hour will cost $2.
