Net publishers form trade group

A group of thirteen Internet publishers formed an industry trade group Monday to promote common interests on a variety of fronts, including online advertising and intellectual property rights. The group, called the Online Publishers Association (OPA), includes representatives from CBS MarketWatch, MSNBC.com, New York Times Digital, The Wall Street Journal Online and CNET Networks, publisher of News.com, among others. The OPA plans to promote itself to the advertising community and conduct research on Internet advertising to build a brand name. Michael Zimbalist, a veteran of the digital publishing industry, is the group's executive director.
