Net advertising trade group grows

The Interactive Advertising Bureau, the chief governing body of the nearly $7.5 billion industry, said Wednesday that it signed on 12 new members, including search site Google and auctioneer eBay. The New York-based organization said its members now account for more than 70 percent of ad revenue made from the Web. Other new members include the Web publishers CondeNet.com, Economist.com, WashingtonPost.com, Newsweek Interactive and CFO.com; entertainment sites AtomShockwave and Electronic Arts; interactive marketers eZula, MyPoints.com and Meredith Interactive Media. Paid-listing search site FindWhat.com also joined the group. IAB CEO Greg Stuart said the additions mark an important milestone as the ad industry works to recover from growth declines. "The year ahead promises to be critical to the growth of the interactive medium, and IAB membership assures that member companies will be able to contribute to the overall health of the industry by participating in the important research, education and best practices/guidelines initiatives that are ongoing for IAB members," he said.
