Net access device priced under $500

American Interactive Media announced an Internet access device for under $500.

Following yesterday's spate of network computer announcements from Oracle and others, American Interactive Media announced today that it will offer an Internet access device for under $500.

The company said it will license microprocessor technology from MSU Limited and combine it with high-resolution graphics, 16-bit sound, and an integrated modem in the device. The appliance will also include a suite of software, including Web browser, email, and Java support.

The first product from American Interactive Media will ship during the holiday season.
