Nest's security cameras are now officially sold in Mexico.
Chris Monroe/CNETGoogle's smart home sister company, Nest, is expanding south of the border.
Originally sold in the US, UK, Belgium, Canada, France, Ireland and the Netherlands, Nest expanded to Spain, Italy, Germany and Austria back in January. Now, it's growing its North American presence by selling in Mexico via Amazon, Best Buy, Liverpool, Palacio de Hierro and Walmart.com.mx. Setup instructions are in Spanish and customers can sign up for Nest's optional cloud recording service, Nest Aware, for a monthly fee.
Nest made a significant impact on the smart home market in 2011 when two former Apple employees introduced the design-forward Nest Learning Thermostat. Since then, the smart home manufacturer has added three other products to its lineup -- the Nest Protect smoke and carbon monoxide detector, the Nest Cam Indoor and the Nest Cam Outdoor.
For now, product availability in Mexico is limited to the Nest indoor and outdoor security cameras, so folks interested in its thermostat or smoke detector will still have to wait.
