Nazi memorabilia controversy continues

A French-based human rights group that protested the sale of Nazi memorabilia on Yahoo Auctions has filed a motion with the U.S. District Court in San Jose seeking to dismiss Yahoo's lawsuit. The International League against Racism and Anti-Semitism (LICRA) argues that Yahoo should no longer seek to overturn a French court's ruling since it has agreed not to list Nazi material on its auction site. Yahoo asked the San Jose court in December 2000 to overrule a French court's decision, which ordered it to block the sale of Nazi items or face a possible daily fine of $13,905. "I do not understand why Yahoo is persisting in this lawsuit after it has supposedly changed its policy regarding Nazi memorabilia," said LICRA attorney Ronald S. Katz in a statement. "It makes me wonder whether their change in policy is sincere."
