NASA plans 'Second Life' for Mars trip

When NASA begins launching astronaut teams to Mars, one of the greatest survival tests these explorers will face is the inevitable alienation they'll experience.

NASA fears for the mental health of the first astronauts who embark on a two-plus-year journey to Mars. If being locked up with people you may learn to hate isn't enough, harsh conditions on the Red Planet will raise the stress level. But scientists think that a 3-D virtual world such as Second Life or World of Warcraft could be one way to keep space travelers from attacking each other.
