Over the past 12 years, "MythBusters" has tested 960 myths, made 864 explosions and used up 57,800 yards of duct tape. This season promises to be just as exciting as the last, if not a bit more dangerous.
Fans already know the new season of the Discovery Channel show "MythBusters" kicks off on January 10 at 9 p.m. local time in the US with half the cast and a of testing two myths per episode (UK and Australian viewers should check their regional Discovery Channel websites for premiere times).
But what myths will show hosts Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman be testing? The show launches with an episode dedicated to the hit animated Fox series "."
The duo plans on dropping a cherry bomb down a toilet and taking a wrecking ball to a suburban home. Plus, they're joined by a special guest -- Al Jean, executive producer and show runner of "The Simpsons."
The season will also test stunts from one of Savage's favorite adventure films, "Raiders of the Lost Ark." The guys will tackle the famous opening scene from the film. Then the fellas jump right into whip myths. Is it possible to disarm a gun-toting enemy with one whip crack? Can a whip truly break the speed of sound? And most importantly, can you really use a whip to swing your way across a dangerous chasm?
We don't pity the fools -- that's Hyneman and Savage -- who plan on testing Mr. T and his pals from the classic TV show "The A-Team." The guys find out if it's possible to build a working cannon from discarded materials found in an abandoned barn. And can a sewer explosion really take out the bad guys?
Hyneman and Savage will also put the finale of "Breaking Bad" involving the M-60 in Walter White's trunk under the "MythBusters" microscope.
Video games will also get the "MythBusters" treatment when Hyneman and Savage challenge the science of virtual worlds in popular titles.
Tune into thew new season of "MythBusters" at your own risk.
