MusicNet bolsters executive ranks

MusicNet, an online music service formed by RealNetworks, AOL Time Warner, Bertelsmann and EMI, has added several executive positions. The company said it appointed Ganapathy Krishnan as chief technology officer and as senior vice president of products and technology. Krishnan, who worked for companies such as Network Commerce, Web Solutions and Intelligent Software Solutions, will manage MusicNet's product development and technical operations. In addition, MusicNet tapped Shashi Karan as vice president of finance and David Halprin as director of product management. Karan, who was the senior director and corporate controller of PathoGenesis, will be in charge of finance and administrative functions. Halprin, who previously worked for RealNetworks, will be responsible for managing features and content for the music service. MusicNet also announced that John Rose, an executive vice president at EMI, has been appointed to its board of directors.
