From Cabot Cove to Westeros: Angela Lansbury to be in 'Game of Thrones'?
The veteran actress is rumored to be in talks for a two-episode role, but we'll have to wait until next summer to see.
If Angela Lansbury is interested in more murder, King's Landing is the place to be.
If any actress knows murder inside and out, it's Angela Lansbury. The 90-year-old screen veteran is best known as author and detective Jessica Fletcher in the hit TV series "Murder, She Wrote."
In the series, which aired from 1984 to 1996, Lansbury solved one murder after another as Fletcher, occasionally becoming the suspect herself.
With an acting career spanning seven decades that earned her an honorary Oscar, five Tony Awards, six Golden Globes, an Olivier Award and numerous Emmy nominations, Lansbury is no stranger to fantasy. She's played a friendly witch, a singing teapot and everything in between.
Now Lansbury is in talks to make a guest appearance in two episodes of the next season of "Game of Thrones," according to German news website Bild.
Since the next season will run seven episodes instead of 10, appearing in two episodes could mean a weighty role for Lansbury. Here's hoping she dons armor and gets some time on the battlefield. Anything is possible in the popular HBO series.
Whatever role she may or may not be playing, we wouldn't see Lansbury in Westeros until summer of 2017 when season 7 of "Game of Thrones" finally airs.
HBO did not immediately reply to a request for comment.
UPDATE: Sadly, the rumors are busted and Lansbury will not be appearing in "Game of Thrones" after all -- dashing all our "Westeros, She Wrote" fan fiction ideas.
