MSNBC.com says Ona Karasa has been appointed general manager of the Olympic Web sites, including Saltlake2002.com, Olympics.com and NBCOlympics.com. Karasa's responsibilities include the management and production of the sites such as overseeing coordination with the Olympics committees and NBC. Before joining MSNBC.com as vice president of development and design, she owned a management consulting firm and worked for several tech companies including Adobe Systems. Karasa continues to oversee her functions as MSNBC.com vice president in addition to her new responsibilities.

Last month, Microsoft secured the rights to produce and host the official Web site for the 2002 Winter Olympic Games. The Redmond, Wash.-based software company entered into an agreement with the Salt Lake Organizing Committee and NBC to produce the Olympic Web sites through its MSNBC.com property for the 2002 Olympic Winter Games.
