Remember "I'm just bill, I'm only a billÂ…?" Hitachi has a Schoolhouse Rock-inspired Flash cartoon explaining the latest advances in boosting hard drives' memory capacity. With a Bit (not a Bill) working his little song-and-dance way through what's either a dance floor or a magnetic storage device.

The upshot, minus the disco? Hitachi thinks its new technology can make a 6 gigabyte hard drive store the equivalent of 30,000 songs instead of just 3,000. That's perpendicular, baby.
