Motrr Galileo gets GoPro mount for motorized 360-degree timelapse videos

Originally designed for the iPhone and iPod Touch, the motorized Galileo dock can now be used to smoothly pan and tilt a GoPro camera.

Motrr

The Motrr Galileo is a cool robotic iPhone dock that, when paired with one of more than a dozen apps, can be used to create high-resolution 360-degree panoramas and smooth time-lapse sequences among other things.

To further expand its usefulness, Motrr made a mount that holds a GoPro Hero3, 3+ or 4 camera that squeezes in where you would otherwise mount an iPhone. With the camera mounted you can create higher-quality time-lapse videos with your GoPro. Using the Motrr iOS app (no Android support is available or planned) you can control the Galileo via Bluetooth, allowing you to pan and tilt the camera, as well as rotate it a full 360 degrees.

You cannot, however, use the app to control the camera's settings; that will still need to be done through the camera itself or with GoPro's iOS app. Check out the video below to see a quick example of what's possible or this time-lapse of the Hong Kong skyline at night. It's a fraction of what you can do with something like eMotimo's TB3 motion-control robot, but it's a fraction of the price, too.

The Motrr Galileo Bluetooth model is available for $149.95. The GoPro mount, compatible with the Hero3, Hero3+ and Hero4, can be pre-ordered for $29.95. You can use promo code GiftaGalileo and you'll get 20-percent off through the end of the year.
