Motorola Xoom gives us sticky Honeycomb fingers in hands-on video

We get our excited fingers wrapped around the new Motorola Xoom, a tablet with a mighty dual-core processor and Android's tablet-specific 3.0 Honeycomb operating system.

The Motorola Xoom was one of the most hotly anticipated tablets at Mobile World Congress. It may be a chunky fellow, but it's packed full of features and delivers us our first helping of Android 3.0 Honeycomb. We got our hands on it in this video.

Honeycomb is the codename for Android's operating system designed specifically for tablets. The new OS takes advantage of larger screens in ways that were not previously possible. The previous Galaxy Tab, while a smart bit of kit, was running Android 2.2 Froyo -- an OS that Google itself says it not designed for tablet use.

The Xoom has a 10.1-inch screen with a 1,280x800-pixel resolution and a 16:9 aspect ratio which should make Honeycomb's 3D-effect menus and excellent Web browser look glorious. Under the hood you'll find 32GB of internal memory and a dual-core processor which is powerful enough to tackle anything the Android market can throw at it.

The Xoom isn't a small, pocket-friendly tablet and at 730g you wouldn't exactly call it light either, so you may have to develop some serious wrist strength if you want to be holding it up while typing for extended periods of time.

We'll have to wait and see whether this thing has the power to knock the iPad off its self-righteous podium when it's released in the UK this summer.
