Motorola to bring handsets with video chat

Though not a big believer in video conferencing, Motorola CEO Sanjay Jha said the company will bring new phones with the feature and says Droid sales continue to be strong.

Motorola CEO Sanjay Jha isn't a "great believer" in video conferencing on mobile phones, but regardless, he said the company will bring two to four new handsets that support the feature later this year.

Jha revealed this little nugget of information after an Executives Club presentation in Chicago, but didn't mention any specific models, simply stating that they would all have front-facing cameras that would allow for video chats.

The move is, no doubt, spurred by the recent launch of the HTC Evo 4G and Apple iPhone 4, which both offer video conferencing.

Also, despite the recent deluge of great Android devices like the Evo and Droid Incredible, Motorola says sales of the Droid continue to be strong and that it's having problems keeping up with demands due to component shortages.

"(Droid) sales are going extremely well. If I could build more I'd sell more," Jha said, according to Reuters and also mentioned here by CNET contributor Brooke Crothers.

Returning to Jha's comment on mobile video conferencing for a second, how many of you are really interested in this feature?
