Motorola sells $253 million wireless gear

Motorola announced Tuesday that it has sold $253 million of wireless gear for use in TA Orange's network in Thailand. The equipment, which uses GSM (Global Systems for Mobile Communications) technology and runs on 1800 megahertz, will be installed in Thailand's northern, northeastern and eastern provinces, and will become part of a nationwide network that will offer service by the end of 2002. In addition to the equipment, TA Orange, a joint venture between CP Group, Telecom Asia and Orange SA that markets its service under the Orange name, will receive integration and installation services from Motorola.
