Hello Moto! The Motorola Motoluxe and Motorola Defy Mini are two new affordable phones running Android 2.3 -- and they're set to arrive in Britain next month.
The slimline Motoluxe is a svelte budget blower with a 4-inch touchscreen. Inside there's an 800MHz processor and 512MB of RAM, with a battery that'll give you up to 6.5 hours of chat or 19 days on standby. It has a front-facing camera for video calls and a proper camera on the back.
The Motoluxe comes in white or liquorice -- we think they mean black -- and includes a flashing lanyard slot that lights up when you've missed a call, received a text or have an email waiting for you.
The Defy Mini is the rough, tough follow-up to the Motorola Defy and Motorola Defy+. The original Defy was already pretty mini at just 3.7 inches, but the Defy Mini is even, um, mini-er at 3.2 inches. It's water-resistant, dust-proof and boasts a scratch-resistant Gorilla Glass touchscreen. Let's hope it can stand up to even the hardest-partying adventures.
The Defy Mini defies the elements with a 600MHz processor, 512MB of RAM inside, and a battery offering up to 10 hours of talk time. There's a 3-megapixel camera with flash on the back, and a video chat camera on the front.
We're looking at Motorola with renewed interest these days, as Google buys the company for £7.6bn. Hopefully we'll see some advanced Android action in forthcoming Motophones -- perhaps Motorola will produce the flagship Nexus phone that introduces the next version of Android. Or perhaps Google will continue to work closely with Samsung, which built the last two Nexus phones, including the new Samsung Galaxy Nexus, which debuted Ice Cream Sandwich.
The Motoluxe is already available in China under the name Motorola XT615, while the Defy Mini will be known as the Motorola XT320 in China. Both phones arrive in the UK in February.
