If you weren't one of the lucky few to score a free Motorola Droid X, the good news is that you can get one of your own: the Android superphone is now on sale.

Available at Verizon and Best Buy locations, as well as online, the Droid X goes for $199.99 with a two-year contract and offers a massive 4.3-inch capacitive touch screen, Android 2.1 (upgradeable to Android 2.2 later this summer), an 8-megapixel camera with HD video capture, and a mobile hot spot feature, among other things.

Though this summer has been marked by smartphone shortages, including Verizon's Droid Incredible, carrier spokeswoman Brenda Raney told CNET that the company has "done everything possible to ensure we have inventory to meet customer needs around the Droid X." That said, Verizon did say it's experiencing up to an hour delay activating data services on the Droid X.

If you got a Droid X today, we'd love to hear from you. Let us know if you had any problems, and, of course, let us know what you think of the phone. Here's our full review of the Motorola Droid X.

Update: Since we published this story, we've received numerous reader comments and e-mails about the Droid X being sold out at Verizon stores and other retail outlets nationwide, so we reached out to Verizon for comment and received the following response from Brenda Raney:

Customers have been enthusiastic about the launch of the Droid X by Motorola and inventory is either out or very low in some parts of the country. Customers may continue to order their phones and our expectation is the phones will ship on or before July 23. We order our phones in phases so the inventory we are selling now is what we ordered for launch. We have shipments scheduled weekly to replenish our inventory.
