More money for fuel cells

Neah Power Systems, which develops fuel cells for notebooks, raises $12 million in venture funding.

Neah Power Systems, which develops fuel cells for notebooks, has raised $12 million more in venture funding from, among others, Castile Ventures and Intel Capital.

Neah's fuel cells convert methanol in water and electrons, which are used to power portable electronics. The conversion process is controlled by a honeycombed membrane made of silicon and other metals. The honeycombed nature of the material increases the surface area of membrane. More surface area leads to a faster chemical reaction and more electricity.
