Microsoft's small-business anthropologists

This interview with Inc. by Doug Leland, general manager of Microsoft's small-business division, makes me think the company, at least in the corporate suites, gets it when it comes to small business. Leland talks not so much about Microsoft's products as about the solutions small business is looking for, from sales support to financial management to mobility.

He said the company has "cultural anthropologists" who go and observe small businesses and report back to headquarters. Wow.
