Microsoft updates map software

Microsoft on Wednesday released Streets & Trips 2003, the newest version of its consumer mapping and travel software. The new version, which costs $35, covers 6.7 million U.S. and Canadian streets and highways and more than 1 million locations, such as theaters, hotels, ATMs and banks.

Microsoft added more than 300,000 miles of highway to the new version, which consumers can use for point-to-point trip planning.
