Microsoft plans to promote its Forefront security and System Center management products at an event in Beverly Hills, Calif., next month.

Bob Muglia, senior vice president of Microsoft's server and tools business, will outline Microsoft's vision and road map for security and management products at the event, scheduled for May 2 at the Beverly Hilton.

Following a keynote presentation by Muglia, event sessions will delve into Microsoft products including Forefront Client Security, Forefront Server Security, Internet Security & Acceleration Server 2006 and the various System Center-branded products including Configuration Manager 2007, Operations Manager 2007, Essentials 2007 and Data Protection Manager.

With Forefront, Microsoft is ramping up its efforts to convince businesses that it is the solution to, not the source of, their security woes. It will go up against software from Cisco Systems, Symantec, McAfee and others.

Microsoft unveiled Forefront as a single security brand for businesses in June last year.
