Microsoft says now has all parts for ad business

With $6 million buy of Aquantive, Redmond's chief advertising strategist says company doesn't need to acquire more assets to succeed.

Microsoft said on Wednesday it now has "all the pieces" it needs to build a successful advertising business after its $6 billion acquisition of digital advertising company Aquantive.

Speaking at the Goldman Sachs Internet Conference, Microsoft Chief Advertising Strategist Yusuf Mehdi said the company does not necessarily need to acquire more scale in order to be a success. When asked whether there would be assets from Yahoo that could help Microsoft, Mehdi said, "From where we are today, I think we have all the pieces."
