Microsoft has released an update to their popular Office 2004 software suite for Mac, bring the current version to 11.5.7. Microsoft Office is still one of the most purchased pieces of software for the Mac and versions as old as 2001's Office X remain in use. This update fixes vulnerabilities that could allow malicious code to be injected into a user's computer via an Office file.

Users of Microsoft Office 2004 should download the update immediately via Microsoft's Office AutoUpdate software or by downloading it directly from Microsoft's Web site. The download will update Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, and the Microsoft Component Plugin and applies to these versions:

  • Microsoft Office 2004 for Mac Professional Edition
  • Microsoft Office 2004 for Mac Standard Edition
  • Microsoft Office 2004 for Mac Student and Teacher Edition
  • Microsoft Entourage 2004 for Mac
  • Microsoft Excel 2004 for Mac
