Microsoft this fall plans to release a version of its Windows Media 9 software for Mac OS X, according to a posting on the company's Web site.
Microsoft currently supports only Windows Media version 7.1.3 for Mac OS X, and version 7.1 for other Mac operating systems. Windows Media 9 claims numerous enhancements, including bandwidth management features that help alleviate broadcast delays due to Internet congestion, known as buffering.
A Microsoft representative on Tuesday confirmed that the company plans to issue a Mac upgrade, but said no other details of the release are available.
